Toastmasters@MIT Club

Looking to improve your presentation/communication skills?

Preparing a toast for your best friend's wedding?

Trying to ace a job interview?

Then…come join Toastmasters@MIT!!!

Toastmasters@MIT is a club where members learn to improve their presentation and communication skills by speaking in front of a group and working with others in a supportive environment.

Members will learn the basic techniques to capture the audience and effectively communicate their message. Techniques include: speaking with sincerity, organizing your speech, using vocal variety, and inspiring your audience. Later, members can choose to work on more advanced topics, such as delivering technical presentations, facilitating discussions, giving special occasion speeches, telling stories or giving entertaining speeches.

Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. By learning to effectively formulate and express your ideas, you open an entirely new world of possibilities. You’ll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and you’ll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.

Don’t worry! Everyone at Toastmasters@MIT was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you’ll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your skill.

We meet on Fridays, Noon to 1pm, at 50 Ames Street (E18), Room E18-021, Cambridge, MA.

The mission of Toastmasters is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters
self-confidence and personal growth.
